Sojourn Heights

The challenge

Sojourn Heights was building a new sanctuary and needed an audiovisual consultation, as well as equipment.

As a church with a contemporary worship style, Sojourn Heights needed equipment (like speakers, lights, and video) that would really make an impact. However, the budget for the new building, including AV, was extremely limited.

Our challenge was to execute their vision while sticking to a hard dollar amount. Maintaining great aesthetics was another top priority; In this great new space, the client did not want to see the AV support equipment or wiring. Spoiler alert: we made it happen.

The Solution

Our team worked directly with Sojourn’s architects to design a system that would keep all audiovisual equipment out of sight.

We used Danley point source speakers that could be rigged above the support beams, rather than hanging below them. We projected directly on the back wall of the stage with a short-throw NEC projector so the people standing on stage would not accidentally block the audience’s view.

Projecting directly on a wall is not usually ideal, but after discussing Sojourn’s content and intent, we found it to be the best solution for them. And it looks cool too; The projector sits in a custom-designed housing that matches the architecture of the stage.

equipment we used:

- Events sound

- Large format video

- Live sound reinforcement

- Stage lighting

- Video streaming

- Local overflow

The aesthetics of the project was paramount. The challenges were about how to make the project happen without interfering with the architecture of the building. We had to find creative ways not to interfere with the vision of the space and deliver the AV experience the customer wanted.
